NOTICE OF QUALIFYING PERIOD FOR CANDIDATES FOR THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE HIGHLAND MEADOWS II COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT

Notice is hereby given that the qualifying period for candidates for the office of Supervisor of the Highland Meadows II Community Development District (“District”) will commence at noon on June 8, 2020, and close at noon on June 12, 2020.  Candidates must qualify for the office of Supervisor with the Polk County Supervisor of Elections located at 250 South Broadway Avenue, Bartow, Florida 33830; Ph: (863) 534-5888. All candidates shall qualify for individual seats in accordance with Section 99.061, Florida Statutes, and must also be a “qualified elector” of the District, as defined in Section 190.003, Florida Statutes.  A “qualified elector” is any person at least 18 years of age who is a citizen of the United States, a legal resident of the State of Florida and of the District, and who is registered to vote with the Polk County Supervisor of Elections.  Campaigns shall be conducted in accordance with Chapter 106, Florida Statutes.

The Highland Meadows II Community Development District has 2 seats up for election, specifically seats 4 and 5.  Each seat carries a four-year term of office.  Elections are nonpartisan and will be held at the same time as the general election on November 3, 2020, and in the manner prescribed by law for general elections.

Highland Meadows II CDD update on the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Highland Meadows II remains committed to providing the amenities and lifestyle that residents have come to expect. We are also committed to the health and safety of our residents and patrons. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation during these difficult times.

Currently, CDD facilities are closed to residents and patrons, as we comply with state and county social distancing restrictions. We are working on detailed protocols for opening, so that we are fully prepared once we have the ability to open facilities.

The Highland Meadows II Community Development District (“District”) is an independent special district, created pursuant to and existing under the provisions of Chapter 190, Florida Statutes, and established by the City Commission of the City of Davenport’s approval of Ordinance No. 761, on August 28, 2014. The District includes within its boundaries approximately 332.59 acres.

DISTRICT INFRASTRUCTURE AND PROPERTY
The District issued its Series 2014 Bonds (“Bonds”) to fund the construction and/or acquisition of storm water management improvements, landscaping, utilities improvements, and roadway improvements.

DISTRICT ANNUAL NON-AD VALOREM ASSESSMENTS
The District annually collects from property owners within its boundaries both a bond debt service assessment and an O&M assessment. he bond debt service assessment helps amortize all series of bonds the District has issued. The O&M assessment funds the District’s annual O&M activities.
